The worst Trump defense: "If he'd colluded, we would've known by now." This is the sort of rhetorical catch-22 a sixth-grader would create: if Mueller leaks (which he hasn't) you say it's proof he's part of a "Democrat coup"; if he *doesn't* leak, you say he has nothing. GROW UP.
/ The second-worst Trump defense: "collusion isn't a crime." Actually, false: "Collusion" (capital "C") is indeed not a crime—as there's no statute called "Collusion." But "collusion"—the *activity*—can *often* be criminal if it's with a hostile foreign power during an election.
/ The third-worst Trump defense: "Mueller hasn't found any evidence of collusion." Neither you nor anyone you've ever met have *any* idea what Mueller has found. I wrote a 450-page book on Trump-Russia and even *I've* said repeatedly that Mueller knows infinitely more than I do.
/ The fourth-worst Trump defense: "Wait until Nunes 'unredacts' _______. It'll blow this wide open!" Go read the Peanuts comic in which Lucy holds the football for Charlie Brown. Then the third one. Then the twentieth one. Your "unredacting" events are *always* a pointless joke.
/ The fifth-worst Trump defense: "Trump's innocent because one of the 100 feds investigating or prosecuting him did a bad thing [that didn't alter the evidence]." As long as you're ready to have every defendant in America use this defense against *any crime*, let's roll with it!
/ The sixth-worst Trump defense: "The Democrats are upset they lost the election." Yep—they are. And in calling for Trump to be investigated fully—which would likely lead to impeachment—they're ensuring a *hard-right Pence presidency*. How does that track with partisan motives?
/ The seventh-worst Trump defense: "Stuff happened; he didn't know about it." If you read Proof of Collusion and still conclude Trump *didn't know anything* about what was happening, you must have also concluded he's been listening to an iPod and wearing a sleep mask since 1987.
/ Obviously *all* these defenses are *equally* bad. Some are ranked higher than others—i.e. are to be considered worse than others—because we hear them more often. *All* of them are a joke; *all* are being trotted out for *only* this criminal suspect in all of U.S. history. /end
