I’ll add that this process makes it effectively impossible for companies to sponsor meaningful work on Clojure unless they’re willing to maintain a fork for a year or more while the changes are being considered, and (probably) indefinitely if the changes are rejected.
This includes relatively minor changes to the core that enable substantive improvements to tooling and the surrounding ecosystem.
