In November 2013, the Obama Border Patrol used pepper spray on migrants attempting to unlawfully enter the United States. Barely a peep from the media over it.…
This doesn't mean they did not report it, it just means they did not have the selective outrage like they are having over it today. These journalists don't understand the potential lethality of baseball sized rocks being hurled at agents.
In 1994, during Operation Safe Haven, over 300 US troops were injured during riots at the four refugee camps President Clinton ordered set up to handle them. 18 of those US troops were severely wounded. I dragged several out of camp 1 myself.…
Tear gas, pepper spray, & similar nonlethal measures are employed to disperse angry mobs, doesn't matter if they are refugees, or mad citizens rioting in the streets of a US city. The entire point is to disrupt the violent behavior.
Often in these incidents nonviolent people get intermixed with the violent people. Often that is the intent of the instigators to gain sympathy for their plight. The US public gobbles that up faster than turkey on Thanksgiving!
Only thing that is going to stop this type of thing from happening over and over is better border security and assistance from our southern neighbors. Also, to pressure Latin American governments to care better for their own citizens so they aren't fleeing for economic reasons.
