This is what I mean when proposing the idea that the GOP, in these instances, people, and manifestations, function as a fundamentalist organization.
Being absolutely certain of their rightness & righteousness, any and all that contradicts or challenges them is an enemy.

The quest for finding workable solutions for the increase of the common good and happiness is abandoned as a common premise for different parties & sides to function from. Now it is become trench warfare. Including the absolute certainty of right vs wrong. Fundamentalists.
