For those of you who think that "poverty" is like a hawk that suddenly pounce on humans, these reports are for you. In 2012, despite high oil prices, all time high, never before in the history of the nation. 61% of Nigerians lived in extreme poverty.
The figure rose from 54.7% in 2004 to 61% in 2012. This was the period we earned billions of dollars in oil revenue. Our average revenue per quarter averaged 800bn, rising to an all time high of N1.1trn in the third quarter of 2011. By 2015 it had dropped to 400bn.
Corruption, mismanagement, looting, stealing, destruction of the economy was the order of the day. This same period, the UAE and Qatar maximised this rare oppourtunity to grow their economy and accelerate their development. We know where they are today..
What did we get in Nigeria instead, decayed infrastructure, job losses, death of public institutions, racketeering and looting of state owned businesses under the guise of privatization. Airways,Nitel, Nepa, refineries, textile, steel, Agric, nothing, I mean nothing worked.
No rail, no road, no power, poor healthcare, empty nation. We were importing fuel, food, okrika clothes, darkness, okada, keke Napep, aso ebi, champagne, used tyres..factories died, some relocated to neighboring countries. No meaningful investment in any sector.
Of course few people made money out of this unfortunate scenario, illicit cash was flowing in some quarters, some became millionaires overnight, shared crumbs to some rascals.

A false sense of improved wellbeing was created especially in those whose thoughts and life expectations were domiciled in their stomachs. Those who can never reason beyond few naira notes and a bottle of beer.

What audacity? Where did you get the effrontery or to preach on this twitter street about "Get Nigeria Working" crap..

We will never return to such inglorious era..

We are building a new Nation, for honest, disciplined, hard working Nigerians, the vulnerable and the poor.
Your hopes will be dashed in Febuhari..
