So I decided to dig a little deeper into some of the Year in Pictures slideshows and examine them not just by the gender of the photographers, but by the gender of the people *in* the photographs as well. [Thread!]
We have a lot of conversations about why it's important that the photojournalism community be truly diverse, and what the material costs are of having a historically homogenous group of photographers in charge of how we see the world.
That's pretty obvious, I think: the more kinds of people we have telling stories, the more rich and nuanced and true the stories are likely to be. That's true for all forms of storytelling: journalism and filmmaking and history textbooks, and definitely photography.

Be very careful about what you read about #AhvazAttack.
There are many fake news, unconfirmed reports, fabricated photos and photos taken for propaganda use.
For example @bbcpersian journalist @BahmanKalbasi claims a group has taken responsibility when it is not true.1/8
.@guardian journalist @SaeedKD mislead public opinion by writing 'children' were killed by 'terrorists'. And when you read his piece you only see there was one child and not children. But what the headline of the article suggests is very different to its context.2/8

Parmi les espèces les plus en danger, on compte les amphibiens. Grenouilles, crapauds et autres joyeusetés subissent depuis les années 1980 une déclin plus que préoccupant de leur population.
En 2004 une 1ere évaluation révélait que 32% des espèces étaient globalement menacées, au moins 43% connaissaient une forme de diminution de la population et qu'entre 9 et 122 espèces avaient disparu depuis 1980. (science.sciencemag.org/content/306/57…)
