Having gone to @Harvard_Law without being on the @HarvLRev -- I didn't apply, as I figured the odds of me making it were too remote to bother trying -- my inner 25-year-old is not entirely unpleased to have published his third article in it.
The furthest i went was going to a @HarvardFedSoc event about taking the competition, where 3L @SenTedCruz explained how the competition worked. As I recall, he said it was pretty much required to be on @HarvLRev if you wanted to clerk for SCOTUS or be a top professor.
I remember thinking to myself that I'll never get those jobs anyway, so I'm not giving up much by not taking the competition.
