OK so 8pm was a false alarm. Like @grahnort on Eurovision night I’m on Al Jazeera again at 9 sharp to digest the live results from the Middle England jury
Wow. 37% of her MPs want her out. That is devastating. Her authority, credibility and power all shot to pieces. She has no hope in hell of delivering this deal or most likely any other kind either. She’s reaping whirlwind of her delusion & deceit. She won- and now she’s finished.
Now we see the meaning of a dead duck. Every day until she finally resigns will be a living hell of paralysis and dysfunction. The worst thing for Theresa May was not to lose this vote - it was to win it. Fasten your seatbelts everyone: it’s going to be a bumpy year.
Who should be standing in the tent above me but Jacob Rees-Mogg. I told him that he was the winner, not May. He agreed.
This nightmare just got a thousand times worse for everyone - except, quite possibly, for the Remain movement. There may ultimately be nowhere else for us to go.
