Corbyn spot on here. May is running down the clock and wasting money on an outcome she knows won’t happen, just to make her deal look like lesser of two evils. She is now driving Project Fear. Even by standards of British politics this is unparalleled cynicism #PMQs
Wow, there really is nothing more cringe-making than watching May bleat out rigidly rehearsed stale jokes. Also, did nobody suggest ‘they’re behind you’ might be an unwise line when 117 of her own MPs just tried to get rid of her? #PMQs
Have to do a double-take when PM answers a question about foreign policy. Seems impossible to remember a time when UK gov took a sustained interest in world affairs and wasn’t exclusively concerned with implementing a navel-gazing orgy of economic ruin and national self-harm

Labour Party policy is as follows:

1/ Reject this deal
2/ Try to secure general election
3/ Try to win election
4/ Try to renegotiate Brexit in government
5/ If 2, 3 or 4 doesn’t happen, support a referendum

Renegotiation won’t work, but it is policy. So is a people’s vote.
We can argue about this, but let’s also bear in mind that the government is currently spending billions of pounds preparing for a scenario which will cut off our food and medicine supply.
And, before you say ‘we crash out on 29 March’, Corbyn has explicitly ruled out supporting no-deal under any circumstances and has repeatedly called on May to extend Article 50. He will no-confidence gov before we reach edge of the abyss.

I know this looks disappointing, but hold tight. Corbyn can hardly promise to ‘stop Brexit’ when he’s already outlined preference for a general election so he can renegotiate it. If there is a GE manifesto with no Plan B for a referendum if he can’t renegotiate, *then* get angry
Because the truth is that he won’t be able to renegotiate much. Backstop has to stay in all circumstances. Customs union must still be worked through in transition period and we’ll never get a veto over our tariffs or EU’s trade policy, but will still have to follow them.
And if he wants to end free movement - a huge error - then that means we leave the single market with massive disruption at Dover and a border in Irish Sea. So realistically best Corbyn can do is to have ‘Norway Plus’ added to political declaration as a negotiating aspiration.

So here’s the thing. Gov has majority of 13. If PM heads towards no-deal and DUP backs her, it’ll take just 7 Tory MPs to vote against gov & make it fall. 3 have already said they’ll resign whip: Soubry, Boles, Wollaston. 4/5 more and we can end talk of no-deal for good. So, who?
We can make this really easy. We can show gov plainly that they cannot and will not succeed in implementing this policy. So we need moderate Tories to help. @heidiallen75? @JustineGreening? @JDjanogly? @Sandbach? @NickyMorgan01? @spelmanc? Dominic Grieve? We can do it.
Not forgetting, of course, @JoJohnsonUK and @SamGyimah. A basic commitment from all these MPs and we can guarantee that if the government dares to declare a policy of no-deal, the government will terminate itself. We know gov won’t do it: now we just need to prove they can’t.

Too many Democratic voters have not figured out the trick of voting for someone that you don't like, or even that you can without, by your vote, declaring "like" for the candidate.

We're allowed to pick our opponent.

Even if you think it's unacceptable to choose the lesser of two evils because you're still choosing evil... when voting between two candidates you don't like, you're choosing which one is *relevant*, which one you're going to be fighting against.

May's gambit in delaying the Meaningful Vote seemed only to make sense in pushing the rhetoric of her deal or no-deal: vote late, so there's no time for alternatives

Now that it's wrapped up, some thoughts on HQ2 and how I had been / still am thinking about it...
I'm kind of surprised that so few people anticipated they'd split into two new HQs or pull some similar kind of shenanigan. Out of all the things they need most, two are most urgent IMO: 1) access to talent, and 2) political diversification.
Northern Virginia kinda of seemed like a no-brainer to me. (I did not, however, think they'd pick NYC at the time.) Proximity to Washington for lost of reasons + a lot of internet infrastructure is there; matters for AWS I'm guessing although I don't really know how that factors.

The EU isn't punishing the UK for Brexit. We are punishing ourselves. Losing all the benefits of EU membership IS punishment. Just like no longer being able to use the fitness equipment or the weights is punishment for quitting the local gym. 2/19
You might well put on weight because you cancelled your gym membership. But you wouldn't turn around and say "Hey, the gym's punishing me for leaving by making me fat!" That's the consequence of losing your gym membership, not the fault of the gym. 3/19
