The legitimate government of Yemen supported the former UN envoy’s proposal of UN control over the port of Hodiedah. The Houthis refused, and only consistent military pressure by the Yemeni armed forces and the Arab coalition forced them to agree.
The Arab Coalition to Support the Legitimacy in Yemen was founded to protect the Yemeni people and end the war and the humanitarian crisis that started as a result of the Iranian-backed Houthi takeover of Yemen.
#KSA and #UAE have contributed the most towards the 2018 UN humanitarian response plan and have provided a number of initiatives worth billions of dollars towards alleviating the suffering in Yemen. We remain committed to ending the humanitarian crisis to help Yemen rebuild.
The agreement announced today will help bring back security to the region including the security of the Red Sea, a vital water way for international trade.
We hope that the Houthis accept a comprehensive political solution, in accordance with relevant UN resolutions, that serves the interests of Yemen and its people rather than working on behalf of the Iranian regime’s interests.

The Stockholm Agreement between Yemeni parties is being violated repeatedly by the Houthis. The Int’l community must take necessary action to ensure its full implementation. The agreement is an important first step for sustainable peace and offers hope for millions of Yemenis.
The Coalition led by KSA and the Yemeni gov. have been committed to implementing the agreement. It takes two sides to make it work, so far, the Iran backed Houthi militia seems determined to uphold the misery and suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people.
Not only did the Houthis refuse to implement the Stockholm agreement, which they signed to, but they also went beyond that and continued their armed assault including drone attacks, the shelling of residential neighborhoods & launching a ballistic missile towards KSA.

It seems that @IlhanMN is under the assumption that a) it’s a #Saudi war on #Yemen and b) that the coalition is fighting a nonexistent enemy and is, thus, responsible for everything that’s happening in #Yemen. She’s wrong on both accounts.
If the Congresswoman bothered with a little reading she would easily found that the conflict in #Yemen is between the internationally recognized, legitimate government of that country and the illegal #Iran backed #Houthi militia.
If @IlhanMN bothered to do a little reading, she would have found that the #Saudi backing of the legitimate government of #Yemen stems from #UN resolution 2216.

The War in #Yemen is a fight to stop #Iran from dominating the shipping routes and expanding its malign influence.

Our allies #SaudiArabia and #UAE are doing the hard work to keep all of us safe.
We can help the people suffering there, but we cannot allow Iran to win.
Iran has no legitimate interest in Yemen, other than to expand its sphere of influence and to create a Shia corridor of control. Although Iran’s role in Yemen has been underreported by the media, Iran has been funding, arming, and training the Houthis. state.gov/r/pa/prs/ps/20…
A vital US interest at stake here is to ensure the free flow of shipping through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. Iran already sits astride the Straits of Hormuz & has claimed recently they control traffic through it.

I'm reading about the 2018 revision of world urbanisation prospects published by the UN.
India doesn't seem to be prepared for any of this. #UN predicts over 400 million more urban inhabitants in Indian cities by 2050, which is almost twice of what we have in 2018.
How are we going to make sure our cities excel in terms of infrastructure, pollution control, climate resiliency, housing, water, energy, waste management, employment, and crime control.
