On this day 9 years ago, I got a call from Uganda. My midwife had traveled there to train other midwives. At a birth she was attending, the mother was scared and not progressing. She worries abt the baby. My midwife called me and asked for my help. 
The mom said she wanted to have a good and righteous child but she couldn’t see through to that stage because the labor was so hard. I named the baby Ruqayah. After hearing the name, the mom said “that is a strong name.” And that’s how I wound up with a Ugandan niece.
I’ve still yet to meet her but maybe one day insha Allah. I’ve been doing this work of helping women for years and I pray that Allah aids me in my quest to do more and more and more. Ameen.
