Mark the date! December 18, 2018 is the day the UK Government finally lost its senses completely.

“Cabinet also agreed to recommend businesses ensure they are similarly prepared enacting their own no-deal plans.”

Yes, that’s right. Govt is actively going to advise businesses to
carry out their no deal contingency plans *right now*!

Expect a deluge of job losses, investment cuts, spending ramped down, assets being relocated, a white-hot battle for warehouse space etc etc.

All over the COMPLETELY AVOIDABLE no deal Brexit scenario.

The farce, involving 79 lorries, is meant to simulate no deal Brexit congestion of 10,000.

Breaking: The Govt is today pushing the button on every single one of its no-deal Brexit plans and implementing them all *in full*.

There are 320 workstreams across Whitehall on no-deal with each workstream likely containing numerous plans.

Seismic decision.
The Govt will be sending 80,000 emails to key business stakeholders in the coming days to tell them what no-deal means for them. They will be pointed to a 100 page document with all the info.
Something else: The Government is also going to be telling citizens what they need to do ahead of no-deal.
Also: Civil servants will be working over Christmas to get all this no-deal stuff up and running before March 29, 2019.

Getting Member States involved in #Brexit negotiations will not help the #UK. It will most likely fuel domestic politicization of Brexit in #EU27 countries. This will be detrimental to UK interests.
UK #Brexit strategists and commentators as diverse as @Jeremy_Hunt, @CER_Grant , @anandMenon1 and @fromTGA warn about the dangers of No Deal for British public opinion and call on #EU27 member states to get involved.

The British people will hate the EU for a generation, they warn.

The idea/hope is that MS governments will be more willing to give in to British demands. I think this is a flawed argument that overlooks the dynamics of politicization.
