1/ I spent most of the afternoon reading on Github, and for whatever reason was reminded of the many hours I spent digging through developer docs in 2013 when I first went down the bitcoin rabbit hole (and there was barely anything to read but the developer docs)
2/ I have often been asked how I went about learning about it, as the mechanics of it are pretty complex, esp for someone without a background in CS or cryptography. So in case it's useful for anyone out there, here's what my process for learning about most things looks like:
3/ At the beginning, look for basic articles –– Wikipedia or high-level press. You want to create a very rough sketch in your mind about the topic at hand. There will be lots of holes and fuzzy areas, but you can fill those in later.

1/ A thread on investor incentives: Lemming behavior in investing is nothing new and not unique to crypto, but it does seem to become more common in complicated, technical realms where investors have a harder time doing their own diligence. Crypto certainly fits that bill.
2/ Different investors, particularly those writing personal checks, have a whole slew of reasons for which they might invest, many of which are not strictly tied to expected financial upside.
3/ Sometimes they’re relationship-driven: if your personal net worth is a few billion, it may literally be easier for you to write a $50K check into a company than it is to deal with saying no. A token investment gets you out of the awkwardness of declining.

1/ I inhaled Masters of Doom over the last couple evenings. Aside from being a super engaging read, it reminded me of a lot of similarities between the early gaming & crypto communities. amazon.com/Masters-Doom-C…
2/ In the early days, the violence in video games caused a backlash from conservatives who wanted to ban them. One case went all the way to the Supreme Court, but was ultimately dismissed.
3/ The parallel here is the narrative of crypto being used for drug dealing and nefarious activity - in the early days bitcoin was the target, and now it has become privacy coins. Trying to ban these things rarely (if ever) works.

Going to attempt to explain how Bitcoin is like Gold, and why their prices have acted like they have lately to follow up on a debate with @MustStopMurad @hasufl and a few others...
For starters, it is indisputable that ICO Mania / Bitcoin prices peaked at the same time as Global Markets marking the end of the Blow Off Top of 2017 after a decade of the most extreme monetary policy in history.
In this way, Bitcoin prices (like the rest of “Crypto”) acted very much like a speculative Asset Class over the last couple years culminating in a peak like a Risk Asset when Global Markets peaked.
