Confirming what a number of us have been discussing in trade world in the last year - the era of the Free Trade Agreement as the dominant instrument of trade liberalisation is probably over - so what happens next?
Gloomy scenario for trade - increasing protectionism or at best stand still in liberalisation, reflecting falling support for trade agreements (Trump, but also campaigns across the world)
Any positive scenario probably needs to find a way to address non-tariff barriers in some kid of systematic way without touching on the domestic right to regulate - which is, in a word, tricky.
