These days are marked as my first year in Bitcoin. Born and raised in a bear market! What a year! Here is a short story about my evolution.
Even thought I knew about it (I was more of an anarchist on the streets than a cyberpunk), I bought my first bitcoin during the hype. I immediately traded it for a shitcoin (first Verge, then Tron) and I was quite a bit up in my initial investment of couple of hundred dollars.
I suppose, for every noob like me, it is quite satisfactory to have thousands of shits rather than having a small fraction of Bitcoin.
Few weeks later, when I watched the first episode of @magicalcrypto, I was both amazed about the community and a bit offended
since they called the token I was all in (Tron) a shitcoin. I had no idea what a shit Tron was/is back then.
Down the road, as I got some spare money (I was responsible enough to know that I am not supposed to put an amount that I cannot afford to lose),
I got some more Bitcoins and bought some more shitcoins. This time it was different. I got some higher quality shitcoins like ICON, ENIGMA, ZRX and DRAGONCHAIN, for some I fell for the continous shills of some particular twitter people (you know the shillers).
I even made the mistake of doubling down in some of them. Eventually, I ended up having about 100 of each of that shit that were more than 1 dollar a piece or 100 USD worth of shit that were less (spending about 1500 USD).
At some point, I even participated for airdrops for some more shit. Including the ones that I withdrew from the exchanges, my ethereum wallet now looks like a scammy exchange with 50 tokens, all combined worth about 250 USD.
I am still holding them not by choice but because they are worthless.
Then I got lucky in one of those airdrops for a scammy exchange that gave me about 8 USD worth of their printed shitcoin. Their washtrading algo was so broken that I could make some money just by buying from the ETH pair and selling it to the BTC pair and viceversa.
I prefer not to mention the exchange name as I keep harvesting it, even though it degraded gradually over the few months. That 8 USD airdrop got me several thousand Xs (I know that somebody is losing the same amount but I hope that it is the exchange).
Over time I got myself educated thanks to the some amazing people here in twitter. I now have my Bitcoins (just enough to call it plural J) in a Nano Ledger and some extra cash came from Bitcoin for buying the dip (whatever that is).
As I mentioned, it all started with the @magicalcrypto , so huge thanks to the @WhalePanda, @Excellion, @fluffypony and @SatoshiLite (in no particular order). Watching @ToneVays with amazing people like @LeahWald, @jimmysong, @giacomozucco, @nvk also helped a lot
(even though I still believe that some projects like Monero and Litecoin can co-exist with Bitcoin but at the end of the day what matters is Bitcoin).
There is no possible way to count all the people that I learnt something during the last year which includes but not limited to @aantonop, @MrHodl, @francispouliot_, @pierre_rochard, @nic__carter, @BitcoinErrorLog, @lopp, @udiWertheimer, @starkness, @adamback, @peterktodd.
Thanks for all the info on the journey of unconfiscetable and cencorship resistant hard money.
