I was talking to God about two nights ago about something I’ve been struggling with and something I wanted to do and this is what He said. A very short thread
He was trying to make me understand the importance of having a stable but progressive relationship with Him before I move in his fullness. And he gave some great analogies
He related my walk with him to a relationship I almost entered in September. I used to get so frustrated with the lack of attention I was getting from the other party and I would cry to God because I thought I really liked the guy and I was making abnormal sacrifices for him
He told me the same way I wanted to hear from the guy every minute of the day is how he wants to hear from me all the time. He asked me if I understood what it meant to be His bride. And he told me no two people in a relationship survive on communication in the morning and
In the night only. Because that’s what I do with him most of the time. I’ll pray and have my quiet time in the morning, then I get consumed with class and people and distracted that I only talk to him again at night. And I know it’s not right
And He said ‘If you see US the way you see someone you’re in a relationship with, that’s how fruitful our “courting period” will be like’. I was in such a hurry to tweet it when he told me until I start applying what he says in my life, i can’t advise others
Since that night it’s gotten better. But that’s not the point, the point is that God is aware most of us have placed him on some celestial pedestal that prevents an actual relationship and permits a religion. That’s not what he wants
He wants us to see Him as our beloved. The same way you always want to talk to your boyfriend or girlfriend or husband or wife and see them and spend time with them should be same for God. And even more. And He’s always ready to help us through and draw us into His arms
It’s all about mindset and effective action. Sacrifice and obedience too. I don’t feel like praying sometimes. And I would rather read my slides than study my bible sometimes. But if I’d choose whoever I’m in a relationship with over these things, then I can do same for God
And I really hope by the end of January I can share a testimony on how much better I’ve gotten at this relationship thing with Jesus, just to help anyone out there wearing the same shoes as me. Shalom💫
