A nice thread summarizing the problems w/ Haidt’s “Moral Foundations Theory.”

And pointing out some additional moral foundations we are likely to have.
(Only qualm: I don’t see why Oliver still attempts a *survey measure* of morals. Anyone able to clarify what that teaches us? Also unclear why focus on innate morality/morals shared with animals. Given so much of our morals are cultural inventions. No? What am I missing?)
(I also don’t quite get how showing that something is universal and evolved makes it pertinent for understanding cross cultural or within cultural variation in morals.

It’s also universal/evolved that we don’t sleep w/ siblings. But that’s not terribly pertinent to understanding variation. What am I missing/misunderstanding re Oliver’s exercise?)
