Planning a mini northeast geo roadtrip in winter is... challenging.

Any reccs for destinations (that aren't closed for winter & don't require intense gear) around Albany, Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo, Ithaca? I'm also looking for excuses to duck across state lines to PA, CT, MA.
I adore all of you for your suggestions, even if this whole concept of "lake effect snow" has me shying farther east than my original hope.

I'll retry that whole Niagara / Penn Dixie / Ithaca gorges adventure when things (hopefully) start thawing & reopening in April.
Things I didn't anticipate:
I feel so adrift out east where I don't have a deep mental model of how the rocks formed & changed, nor an internal reference for how climate evolves with seasons.

Ask me to plan a trip anywhere in sight of the Rockies & west, I got you. Here? Lost.

I’m at a party where everyone is discussing the costs of their healthcare plans and I just...

...how can Americans pay this much to receive so little yet still think socialized healthcare is a bad idea?

I can’t even.
My grad school roommate did public healthcare. It’s not my specialization, but our hall mapped out cost vs coverage vs country for 9 months so I’m not clueless.

I’m... not saying a lot of things about how Americans pay more to receive less vs literally anyone else on the planet.
Canadians: Did you know in America they literally advertise health care plans on TV alongside diapers and soft drinks? Life, death, toilet paper, tax software, medication, orange juice.

It’s never not going to be unsettling for me to treat healthcare as a commodity.

1. #Ford's accusation is LITTERED w/contradictions and lacks a SINGLE PIECE of corroboration. See:
2. #DeborahRamirez' claims were so unsubstantiated, w/o credibility or corroboration, that the #NYT REFUSED to publish an article about them. Ramirez admitted she only recalled that "Kavanaugh had exposed himself" after SIX DAYS of consulting her attorney.

3. Accuser # 3, #JulieSwetnick, incredibly waited until YESTERDAY to release her outrageous claim that Kavanaugh was somehow a ring leader for a HS gang-rape circuit. Her claims were so incredulous and unsupported that the NYT again passed on writing an article about this.

#Vancouver’s temp modular housing proposals for the homeless have been controversial in some neighbourhoods. The latest proposal is on part of the Larwill parking lot downtown, in my neighbourhood. I fully support it, AND would like to also see lively uses around the entire edge.
Agreed. And since the @CityofVancouver is looking closely at the Larwill design for the modular housing portion of the parking lot, NOW is the time to do this too. I’ll be actively campaigning the city to take this seriously. cc @MayorGregor @VanRealDeal

Aadhaar Day 32, Session 2. Rakesh Dwivedi continuing the case for the State.

Dwivedi comes to the issue of metadata.
RD says that the Petitioners have cited cases on metadata (such as Digital Rights Ireland) which involved large scale storage of metadata that was completely unrelated to any State purpose.
RD says that in the Digital Rights case, the metadata stored involved identifying the date, time, location, duration of communication, and the nature of the machine used. In that context, the Court held that this metadata allows for complete profiling.
