In fact, the most remarkable thing about the whole Brexit process (and in hindsight the most predictable) is the unwavering steadiness of the EU's position. They came together as 27, advanced a common position (based solidly on EU law) and never wavered from it.
Here's another DD classic: "More generally, one of the things that I have discovered in the past few months is that in many areas—not just the City, and not just as regards cars—the balance of negotiating advantage is incredibly heavily stacked our way."

Time for a brief chat about an 8% hit to GDP, which is what is forecast under a no deal scenario.

You might think "Hmm, that means I will lose 8% of my income". Sounds bad, for sure, but potentially "survivable" (to use Liam Fox's expression from yesterday).
But it doesn't work like that. The pain's not evenly distributed. What happens in practice is some firms weather the storm just fine, maybe because they're in industries that aren't affected to the changing situation, aren't connected to the EU even at one- or two- removes, etc.
Other firms take a massive hit. The downturn of 2008/2009 represented about a 4% drop in GDP, and saw millions of people out of work and thousands and thousands of businesses go bankrupt. So imagine what twice that damage would look like.

MPs freely admit that Theresa May's deal satisfies nobody. It leaves us poorer and diminished in the world, and subject to EU rules for years with no say over them. There is very little support for it in Parliament, or in the country.
So if we're going to make people extremely unhappy anyway, why not go for a deal that will deliver immediate economic growth, boost the pound, give reassurance to businesses, and let the Goverment focus on all the critical issues it has been neglecting for years, such as the NHS,
mental health, homelessness, schooling and all the myriad of other things it has kicked under the carpet time and time again?

Why not remain?

Reminder: you're likely to hear a lot of guff today about trading on WTO terms (or, heaven forbid, a "WTO Brexit" which is exactly like saying "a unicorn"). The reality of WTO trade is very different from how Brexiters portray it.
You may well also hear assurances that we will be able to fix our tariffs at 0% for 10 years after we leave the EU, because of handwavium (ok, GATT might get a mention, perhaps not). That too is wrong.

It's ok to have your reasons for wanting Brexit. But expecting trade on WTO terms to yield anything other than huge economic pain (latest estimate > 8% hit to GDP, i.e £100s of billions) is just absurd, patently ridiculous. No matter how many times Brexiters lie the opposite way.

I'm rewatching Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, a show that I considered one of the best in the franchise. Will it hold up?

Ep 01 was well done, definitely a different feel.

I do realize one thing though. Gundam IBO straight up OWES Broken Blade OVA (2010). I'll explain.

What you'll find here that's the most striking is how the Broken Blade mecha is basically the template for Gundam Barbatos: it's a melee-only mecha that's upgraded with different melee weapons from time to time
While I hold the Broken Blade OVA to be more inventive and have better fights altogether, I don't think it takes THAT much away from what Gundam IBO was able to do. It doesn't have to work with BB's magic, muggles, and mecha setting. It's a try-hard grimdark Gundam show.

I speak from industry experience when I say: Someone failed to do their job properly.
