Any great deep & technical explanations of what 5G can actually do? Will post what I find on my own either way below.
2/ This was a useful high level explanation of some technical solutions being used: spectrum.ieee.org/video/telecom/…
3/ Wikipedia was great: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5G
4/ Best guess of requirements to the standard:

1-10Gbps connections to end points in the field
1 ms end-to-end round trip delay (latency)
1000x bandwidth per unit area
10-100x number of connected devices
(Perception of) 99.999% availability

5/ Qualcomm did some simulations in SF. They're stated outcomes:

- Browsing dl speeds: from 71 Mbps for the median 4G user to 1.4 Gbps for the median 5G user
- ~23x faster responsiveness, w/ median browsing dl latency: from 115ms to 4.9ms

6/ AT&T's stated outcomes in the U.S. so far:

- Observed wireless speeds of ~1.2 Gbps in a 400 MHz channel
- Observed latency rates at 9-12 ms
- Observed more than 1 Gbps speeds under line of sight conditions up to 900 ft
