I have no idea who I'm supporting in 2020 (and I doubt I'll know for some time given the number of great candidates), but I want to highlight that Kirsten Gillibrand has been fighting for women and LGBTQ folks in the military when a lot of officials couldn't be bothered.
Example: Kirsten Gillibrand got all military service chiefs on congressional record stating that they were aware of no issues with trans people serving openly in the military. This has been a significant talking point against Trump's attempted ban on trans folks in the military.
Another example: her office personally advocated on behalf of a friend of mine after she was sexually assaulted in the Army. Sen. Gillibrand personally invested time in my friend's case and still checks-in with her, even years later.

Things like this are important to note.

The men who are losing their shit over this ad feel attacked precisely because they're the "bad guys" in the commercial. They know that, and we know that. But they still want us to have this debate on how masculinity is "under attack". No, assholes are under attack.

The ad itself is probably the gentlest, kindest way I've ever seen toxic masculinity called out in the mainstream. If anything, it talks about how masculinity can be empowering and powerful without hurting others. It actually celebrates good men.
Spoiler: with toxic men, there is no good/kind/gentle way to tell them they're being toxic. None. The ad isn't for them. It's to encourage other men to hold toxic men accountable and raise boys to not be toxic. The ad isn't for all men.

I have a lot to say about about the way @JillAbramson seems to frame trans identities here as intentionally "edgy" (because I'm sure anyone who knows me will tell you that I am oh-so-edgy), but I'll just ask folks to read this thread on her poor reporting.
Trans folks are like... everyone. Because we exist everywhere. Across nationalities, religions, races, classes, professions, etc. And the "edgy" or "provocative" framing makes it seem like we're "being trans" for attention or because it's cool. And y'all, that is really shitty.
It'd be nice if @JillAbramson got to know trans people and our history instead of dismissing us as some hipster fad. I'm one trans person; I happen to be a white military veteran from Central Texas. I go to church. I love country music. But what's even more shitty here...

The obsessive and dangerous sexism that pervades our politics is the fundamental reason @HillaryClinton isn't president--Russia, Comey and Sanders aside.
As a nation we always center mediocre men over accomplished women. Witness Schumer being re-elected after abject failure.
Meanwhile, Pelosi faces a cadre of right-leaning white men who want to challenge not just her, but the very message of the midterms, which was to give her a win, refute the GOP attack on her and center women & POC over white male candidates/incumbents.

This is a short thread on how to use Microsoft's Video Indexer (VI) to easily extract valuable insights from videos. Analysing open source information, especially hours of video footage is time-consuming so tools like VI can come in pretty handy 1/6
For this exercise, I use a 1h51m long video from a far-right rally in London (Sat 14 Jul), which I downloaded from YouTube & then uploaded onto the VI platform. Uploading time was around 6-8 min, whereas indexing took 44 min (trial account). 2/5
If you take a look at the right side: VI lists all people appearing in the video and (for some) even provides a short bio. It also displays the exact time(s) the person appears in the video (an advantageous feature that could save analysts valuable time) 3/6
