Collective Consciousness, a thread.

"the set of shared beliefs, ideas, and moral attitudes which operate as a unifying force within society."

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collectiv…

In effect, this is how an individual views himself as a part of any given group.
csmt.uchicago.edu/glossary2004/c…

“A social fact is to be recognized by the power of external coercion which it exercises or is capable of exercising over individuals, and the presence of this power may be recognized in its turn either by the existence of some specific sanction or by....
the resistance offered against every individual effort that tends to violate it”
No matter how individualist you’d like to consider yourself, you still subconsciously adapt yourself to societal norms and pressure. In effect, this creates a mass consciousness, where each individual has nearly identical thoughts, beliefs, and tropes.
You cannot reason with them as they have no agency. They are merely following the cues society tells them to. Control society and they will follow like the sheep they are.
They don’t have personality or even individual opinions, their individuality is limited to the expression of the collective.
They talk childishly because they are. Society is emotionally stunted, and thus the collective consciousness expresses this. Trying to confront them is fruitless.
The collective washes out any potential conflict of thoughts, in effect making Orwell’s DoubleThink a reality. Dale is a Canadian Journalist, who’s questioning of anonymous sources doesn’t even conflict with his (or other media) use of them. He easily accepts both contradictions.
At a certain point it becomes parody. Mass communication with these "boomer memes" are frequent. The method we mock them over is irrelevant; their message will still get through.
The collective consciousness does not allow them to ever stop. They are a ravenous horde, consuming all they can because they are afraid to stop. Any individuals that deviate are swiftly punished and brought back into the fold.
The collective has obvious goals, all wrapped up in the current "memes" of the day. Group identity, group goals, group progress. The most susceptible to this appear to be white women. They would probably celebrate this "accomplishment" far more than black women themselves.
The collective consciousness creates its own media structure, not out of purpose direction or influence, but because it *has* to. No other conclusion could occur.
It becomes an echo chamber, espousing the groups view constantly until the view is adopted by the members. This isn’t hard, look at the polling on gay marriage. Something unthinkable in 2000 has become an enforced norm 19 years later.
The system is obviously evil, but there is no one to blame but ourselves for its creation. That’s the greatest joke of all of this, we are fighting ourselves.
I am hypothesizing the collective consciousness we see today is a remnant of the Cold War, the very institutions and norms we relied on turned against us.
We were so fearful of Soviet control we built up the FBI, the CIA, Capitalism, Business, "Democracy," "Freedom." This pseudo-collective would counteract communist propaganda efforts and ensure America was united under one Flag. It worked.
After the cold war the consciousness spread online, and now effects every man woman and child with a portable screen. The societal tool we built for battling communism now seeks to bring about that which our ancestors killed.
Our "betters" speak to us, not driven by Soros, the CIA, or some other malevolent force, but because they actually believe what they are saying. He’s enforcing the societal consciousness, whether he is aware of it or not.
As the population changes the collective consciousness will be tested to ensure proper "assimilation" occurs. Problematic aspects of Latin American and Muslim culture must be pruned, thus the push for Iranian confrontation over woman’s rights coming from Conservatives.
Conservatives are effected by this as well. "Gatekeeping," whining about the norms violated and how our "values" are fading, while also adopting the collective lenses on most issues.
Can it be stopped? To counteract this collective consciousness would take an incredible personality, bordering on egotism, willing to push the limits of societal control and norms. Maybe such a man exists.
Just understand, when you are arguing with the Left you aren’t arguing with an individual, you are engaging in combat against society itself.
Ironically fitting song.
