X : Do you think that Labour could win a general election?
Me : Labour was 21 pts behind the Conservatives in the last election and it was close. This time, Labour is ahead of the Conservatives (Britain elects).
X : What about YouGov Poll?
Me : You're pulling my leg?
.. the usual response to a YouGov poll has become ... "wait a week for the other polls to tell a different story". I treat them all with an awful lot of skepticism.
X : YouGov got the GE right.
Me : Between April and May it was giving the Conservatives close to a 20pt lead ... if I remember it was only at the end it went "hung". The more cynical tend to say polls aren't just reflecting but trying to influence opinion / action.

Me : Oh yes. You need to use appropriate methods. As a rough guide
X : Do you have an example of this?
Me : Sure. This was a first draft of how to use multiple methods when building HS2 (high speed rail) in a virtual world. It's from 2012 roughly, you'd have to talk to @GoAgileGov for more details and how it helped.
X : 2012?
Me : Yes. I've got earlier examples.
X : How early?
Me : Oldest ones, mostly photos of whiteboards date back to around 2005 - 06. Why?
X : My boss says the company has to go all agile.
Me : Is the firm bigger than 20 engineers?
X : Way bigger!
Me : Your boss is wrong.

When I look at the strategy cycle and doctrine (i.e. the universally useful principles for organisation) then there is a wide variety between organisation ...
... for many many years, I have simply taken the known principles and interviewed companies or reviewed documentation to get a sense of this (it's also useful for competitor analysis) ...

To become the largest party, Labour needs to gain around 30 seats. It so happens that there are 29 seats where Labour is in 2nd place less than 3 pts behind the incumbent. 21 are held by the #CONSERVATIVES, 7 by the SNP, 1 by #plaidcymru. /2
To get a working majority, Labour needs to gain 61 seats given Sinn Fein don't take their seats. It so happens there are 62 seats where Labour is in 2nd place less than 7 pts behind the incumbent. 45 are held by the Conservatives, 16 by the SNP, 1 by Plaid Cymru /3

Jeremy Corbyn's true purpose in calling a general election is to secure not just brexit but hard #Brexit this election can only happen if mays deal is voted down and therefore the default becomes no deal
Any general election would dissolve Parliament and therefore make any steps to avoid no deal #Brexit impossible for most of the remaining time to brexit day . Jeremy corbyn is aware of this
Corbyn said on Marr he would submit a no confidence vote at a time of his choosing but soon. Corbyns intention is to table it so that any general election is held so close to brexit day no government will be able to halt no deal

So now the latest Corbynista gambit us to pretend there is a choice between a General election and stopping #brexit this is a completely false alternative
It is then claimed that in wanting to stop #brexit you are in some way callously allowing the homeless to die and are therefore evil
The fact that there probably isn't going to be a general election is seemingly no excuse. Nor is the fact that Soubry Grieve Heidi Allen and Co aren't going to back a no confidence motion but would back a #PeoplesVote if corbyn backed it is no excuse either

To clarify, I am remain, but I feel a 2nd ref is monumentally risky & perhaps dangerous:-

1. Polls haven't changed much, result could easily be the same
2. Another campaign of hate will embolden the far right
3. If remain win. Leavers will demand another vote
4. Chaos & unrest are likely whatever the result, possibly violence too

What happens if it's still 'Leave'? Picture the chaos, square one. You're simply allowing the Tories more time to fail to come up with a solution. Every day that continues people in this country will suffer
What if it's 'Remain'? Leavers will, with some justification, query why this vote is more valid than the first. This has the potential to cause a constitutional crisis.

People can say 'we know the facts now' all they like, that will not placate millions of angry voters.

I thought that when the Tories saw the consequences of Brexit, they would abandon it and sack Theresa May. I was wrong.
But there were only two possibilities, and in keeping Theresa May, they've chosen the one I thought they wouldn't choose.
See, they've still got no majority, and their legislation won't go through. And even then that's only half the mess.
