Some misunderstandings here. What's proposed is (1) MPs may, by a majority, change the normal way the Commons operates (2) enabling a cross-party group of MPs (300+) rather than the Govt to choose what MPs do on a future day (3) on that future day MPs would still need a majority.
These are unusual times. Ordinarily the Govt has a majority of the Commons on all its business. This Govt has the confidence of the Commons - so it's the Govt - but has no majority on Brexit. So you need a new rule to enable a majority of the Commons to boss the Govt on Brexit.
Describing the change as a "constitutional coup" is no substitute for analysis of what it does. The Ground Zero of our constitution is Parliamentary Sovereignty. This change protects Ground Zero by stopping Govt thwarting Parliament on Brexit. Without it our constitution is gone
