So, after the two recent threads about loading the slingshot, lets look at a comparison of a slingshotting rear leg (left) versus hip rotation (right)
The most obvious difference is the barrel path. And that barrel path is the truth detector.
The whip v the push. Rearward v forward. Depth v out front.
Mechanical advantage v muscle.
On the left the rear leg turns forward a tick before launch. The back is pulling/stretching rearward against it. SNAP!! On the right the leg and hands fire simultaneously forward. PUSH
If you keep the resistance (hip/hands/barrel) behind the rear leg it will pull. When you move it in front it will push. Moving it in front costs a hitter about 3’ of pitch read time.
Physical strength will never fire quicker than the mechanical advantage of the slingshot.
A left handed version of the same topic. Slingshot on the left. Push on the right.
