Areas devastated by Florence face a major new threat today amid rising water levels. North Carolina officials report more than 900 water rescues across the state. @demarcoreports is in pembroke, NC, where rescuers have been working nonstop for days. cbsn.ws/2D0qcY2
Officials are also keeping an eye on the Hope Mills dam near Fayetteville after concerns overnight it could fail. More than 500,000 people remain without power today in North and South Carolina. Officials say some could be without power for weeks. cbsn.ws/2D0qcY2
We're learning more about the 17 people whose deaths are blamed on Florence. Six of those people were killed in South Carolina and the other eleven in North Carolina.

The victims include a three-month-old baby who died when a tree fell on a mobile home in Gaston county, NC.

POTUS says former White House staffer @Omarosa lied when she called him a racist who has said the N-word on tape. But a new recording, obtained by @CBSNews overnight, seems to back up Omarosa's story that several Trump advisers discussed an alleged tape during the 2016 campaign.

Expectancy = 2 x 0.5 =1

For Making Profit, Expectancy Should Be Positive Number (2/n)

Proponents of #SpaceForce think big. They thing space is big. But for security, #space is notably small. I explain.

Earth's land surface is divided into national territories. They're big enough to hide & hoard stuff & they can be controlled & defended by local regimes. +
This applies to national airspace, too. It is actually becoming easier for nations to defend their airspace. As long as nations stay out of each others' airspace (without permission) there is no problem. But above 100 km or so this changes entirely. +
For security purposes, space means mostly orbital space. Low Earth orbit, up to about 2000 km, is militarily important because it's close to the surface. Weapons such as space-based missile defense interceptors or any surface-strike weapons would need to be parked in LEO. +

#New PA cong. map increases D chance of winning the House majority by 4%. They only need a 6.8% generic ballot margin now (down from 7.7) to be favored.

Diff. will be closer to 10% in Nov when uncertainty from polls is ⬇️. Redraw is a very big deal.

One major reason the new PA map is such a big gain for Democrats is that it solidifies, not just tips, PA districts in Philly burbs. Also creates one additional vulnerable R district. (Easily seen in this map made by @JMilesColeman)
My forecasting model will have new PA map in the near future. This is not just a simple switch; it’s a coding redesign, restructuring of input, & drawing new geographic files. Takes a while (for me, a student).
