The following is a thread to assist readers in reading "Raven: The Pirate Princess". The goal is to help with continuity, provide links, and help you compare issues you may have to figure out what you may be missing. Are you ready? Let's go!
Raven: The Pirate Princess is a comic presenting the ongoing adventures of Raven Xingtao, the notorious Black Arrow and daughter of the Pirate King in her quest for revenge against her brothers, who have stolen her birthright as leader of the pirate fleet.
This book is a spinoff of the middle-grades series Princeless and is itself aimed toward a young adult audience. While there is no gore, foul language, or nudity. This book is, however, positively brimming with LGBTQIA+ themes especially and including f/f romance.
If that last bit is a problem for you, well, this series is not for you. I promise, I won't think bad things about you. Some people just don't like romance. It's okay, my mom's not a big fan of it either. She still buys every issue though. Love you, mom!
To read all of Raven's intro, start w/ Princeless Vol 3: The Pirate Princess in which Raven is introduced. But you don't have to. It is illustrated by @RosyTintedSpecs & @ten_bandits

There was something really sinister I learned writing Unstoppable Wasp that I didn't with Princeless:
Some people think it is okay to let girls like and do boy things because boy things are better and they think that girl is an exception. They still think girl things are lesser.
A recurring complaint when Unstoppable Wasp started that I hadn't anticipated was that the characters (teenage girls) sounded like teenage girls. To me, this was a compliment. I nailed it! That's not how they meant it.
What they meant is that they were supposed to believe these characters were super intelligent, that they were scientists on part with Hank Pym and Bruce Banner, but they could not believe that because they spoke like teenage girls.

Hey comics twitter, can we talk a moment?
I do a lot of talking about how much the comics world has changed in the time I've been doing Princeless and how many excited girls I have come to my table.
But there is one deeply screwed up thing that hasn't changed: how you treat boys
I am much more likely to get a supportive parent (mother or father) that picks up Princeless and gets it for their daughter than I am a parent that gets one for their son. At one point, I thought this was not big deal, but then it started to become a patter with books I write
Princeless, Raven, Wasp, and oh my god does this happen with My Little Ponies. Rather than parents listening to what the son wants, they push their sons toward super hero stuff. Male led punching oriented superhero stuff. Not that this stuff is bad, Hulk vs Thor is on my table

It all started as a normal day, all i wanted was to spend the day with uMaka Tina. I was scheduled to work day shift so i called a colleague of mine to swap shifts and let me work his night shift so i can have the day off.
