Prospect of a no deal Brexit forces us to confront what few of us probably have before: what are the supply chains hiding behind the goods filling our shops?

For instance, even if a medicine is made in the UK, are its precursor ingredients imported? (Quite likely: yes.)
Where did the food in the local supermarket or corner shop come from? Here in the UK, or like half of everything we eat, from overseas?

These things never mattered much before (except perhaps to wring our hands about the amount of fossil fuels being burnt to get stuff here.)
After Brexit, they could matter enormously. It's the difference between plenty and privation... or potentially even between life and death.

So take an interest. Peer at the labels of products in your kitchen, or down the shops. Learn just how much we depend on "everywhere else".
And once you get over the shock, kick up a fuss. Write to your MP. Hassle the local paper. Get your friends talking, and their friends, and their friends too.

But don't just sit there like a lemon (imported - sorry) while the systems we take for granted get ripped up.
