At the ground level in Indian cities, Indian languages now are pretty much pidgins of English. With one more generation, considering the penetration of smartphones, they will be even further pidgin-ised.

In all likelihood, Indian languages will share the same fate as Irish.
There is a simple reason why Indian languages have so limited market value, currency in employability, utility for technology, and even cultural value.

The Indian state forces all technical education in engineering, law, medicine etc. to be exclusively in English. #Shame
In this regard, India is no different from other colonized nations. Over centuries of British Raj, it was completely depleted out of its natural capital: both economic and cultural.

Through language, the brains of its people continue to be colonized into an enslaved condition.
What definitely takes the cake are the very instruments of the state which force English on citizens. The judiciary outlaws the use of Indian languages in the highest court of justice.

The supreme court of India conducts its proceedings exclusively in English. #Shame
Indians may take their sweet time to see how ridiculous it is that the constitution of their own country is not written in the mother tongues of the people, but in the language of the colonizer.

But by that time, their languages will be left no more, but as pidgins of English.
