Here's why people lose faith in politics. Even when this stuff is exposed, nothing changes. Brexit is going ahead despite evidence of such deep and widespread cheating that the result of the referendum should be declared unsafe. theguardian.com/uk-news/2019/f…
We urgently need an Electoral Commission with the power to declare a result null and void if democratic standards of transparency and honesty are not met. Otherwise, what's the point of elections and referenda?
Instead, we have a toothless and nigh-on useless Commission - deliberately kept in that state - and an absence of meaningful redress when democracy is sabotaged. This stands as an open invitation to the most devious schemers to cheat and lie on behalf of their rich backers.
We are about to plunge into a national catastrophe, appalling for everyone except the disaster capitalists who might have bought the result. Yet, though we now know this result was secured with the help of wholesale criminality, there appears to be no legal redress.
What this tells us is that the crooks are in charge. They are our rulers now. And the law says there is nothing we can do to stop them.
