Today is International Day of Zero Tolerance for #FGM. With FGM prevalence of 87.2% among all women aged 15-49, in a population of nearly 95 million, #Egypt has the greatest number of women and girls who have experienced FGM of any country in the world. We must say #NoFGM Blue ribbon that is equivalent of Arabic letter for “No.” Under it are words “Zero Tolerance Ribbon. Say no to female genital mutilation. #NoFGM”

Keep your “pledges of fraternity.” Where are the pledges to women from all these patriarchs in robes?
So, yeah. The patriarchs in robes can kiss and hold hands all they want as they pledge undying love to the “fraternity.” They are still dangerous to the sorority.

My daughter and I had a real discussion about slavery tonight at bedtime.

She has been learning about MLK and Rosa Parks. I laid it down, no gloss.

"White people used to own black people. White people forced black people to work on farms for nothing."
"White people held black people in shackles."

She said: "white people starved black people, right?"

I said yes.

"White people treated black people like pets, like animals, right?"

I said yes.
"White people told black people they couldn't even drink the same water, right?"

I said yes.

And then she paused, and I said, it's worse than that.

"White people sold black moms and kids, put them up on blocks, and sold black moms and their kids to different people."
