Before - after.
And to cling to the after.

To find "your purpose", and then going all in, pursuing it, happily ever after.
To get that bikini body, and be sexy forever.

It's a neverending marathon and juggling of 1) state maintenance and 2) chasing better states.
And your mind will invent new desires for you to chase till the day you die.
