Mental illnesses are brain based medical illnesses which affect the way we feel, think and behave, but most times we find that people excuse their general disinterest in the topic of mental illnesses by calling it an invisible illness. This is a thread. #KeeptalkingMH #endstigma
A key part of the definition above highlights that these illnesses also affect the way we behave, hence proving that indeed it does present with physical components, #KeeptalkingMH #IamMentallyAware #EndStigma

Mass shooters are generally men, generally white, and generally have a history of violence against women.

But sure yeah lets ignore those factors and instead focus on some amorphous concept of "mental illness" instead
Mentally ill people are all genders, all races, all ages, and we exist everywhere, in every strata of society. But white American men with violent tendencies toward women are the ones who commit mass murders.
Goddamnit leave mentally ill people alone. This isn't on us. This is on angry white men who don't get what they feel entitled to, who don't get what they feel is their due and decide to burn the world down instead.

The problem with studying sex work as an economist: 1) it is at the end of the day just one labor market. So basing a research agenda on it sometimes feels like basing a research agenda on a single occupation, like teachers or professors.
2) data is difficult to come by. Unlike education, say, where there’s dozens of data from large scale surveys to administrative data sources, sex work data is difficult to acquire. No randomized sample for instance. No administrative data sources. Hidden population.
3) Hidden populations must be studied using particular sampling methods like respondent driven sampling and that’s not in Econ toolkit, plus I’ve been unsuccessful getting funding to study voluntary sex work anyway. More funding for trafficking. But not sex work.

I’ve seen people “cope” with for years, in a futile struggle

I’ve seen people overcome it, but it requires entirely remaking themselves
Separating internal mental health from external reality is as detrimental as separating mind from body

The factors that create mental pathology and self destruction are many

Redemption is found within
Mental health awareness is at an all time high,

The issue is not lack of awesnress,
