The nature that surrounds us tells us how we best build our homes. If your forests primarily look like the the photo on the left, you build timber frames (fachwerk, tudor, etc.). If they look like the photo on the right, you build solid log frames.
However, if your forests primarily look like this, you build with stone.
If your winters looks like this, you build houses optimized to withstand the cold, and you tough it out during the short and bearable summers.
However, should you live where the summers look more like this, you build your home to be comfortable no matter what the heat, and you spend the short but bearable winter wearing an extra cardigan.
