A man subpoenaed by Robert Mueller has been sued for racketeering, in a federal lawsuit accusing him of a globe-hopping campaign of a violence, extortion and financial crime across the United States and Turkey.

This blockbuster lawsuit intersects with two major criminal cases in the United States: a more than $500 million money laundering scheme charged in Utah and a Turkish influence campaign filed in Virginia.

The lead defendant is Sezgin Baran Korkmaz, pictured at the top of this story standing in between now-indicted Mormon polygamist leader Jacob Kingston and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Kingston is accused of laundering more than half a billion dollars on a biofuel tax credit scheme. A large chunk of that money went to Turkey via SBK Holding USA.

The new lawsuit alleges that this was an affiliate of Korkmaz's Istanbul-based company SBK Holdings.
The lawsuit also alleges Korkmaz used the illicit proceeds of this scheme to buy out a now-shuttered Turkish airline BoraJet, after driving down the prices through a violent campaign of extortion, intimidation and disinformation.
The other federal criminal case this lawsuit intersects with is in Virginia, where Trump's former transition team member Bijan Kian and Ekim Alptekin are charged with running the Turkish influence campaign that recruited Michael Flynn.

Michael Cohen has been disbarred, the New York Post just reported.

And now, a sealed document has been placed in the vault in his SDNY case.
Just a note for context: Sealed filings are routine in criminal cases. They're always "placed in [a] vault," and the judge recently ordered Cohen to propose redactions to the search warrants that media outlets successfully sued to unseal.

(Unclear if that's the issue here.)
"A conviction of a federal felony triggers disbarment by operation of law if the offense would constitute a felony if committed under New York law."

One development since the last hearing:

U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres, a federal judge in SDNY, joined the plaintiffs suing Saudi Arabia. I just reached out to her chambers, and she declined to comment.
Generally bustling in SDNY's ceremonial courtroom - presumably chosen to accommodate the victim families and other spectators - for today's hearing in the 9/11 liabilities case against Saudi Arabia.

The hearing is expected to begin shortly.

1. Note the date: the confidential files with evidence were leaked in October 2018.
2. The Twitter account has been removed. It's old news. There is nothing discrediting to Mueller's investigation in the fact that the Russians stole the files. If anything, it confirms that, yes, Russians hack.

#FDR is arguably one of the most 'successful' #US Presidents. Some would argue that on the basis of his numerous social policies such as 'the New Deal'. Others, however, would argue that his role during the second world war was more prevalent to his success & everlasting legacy.
