1/ Dear MPs - in this thread we are genuinely trying to help. Please read/listen. The UK is indisputably having great difficulties replicating the preferential trade agreements and Free Trade Agreements that we enjoy as members of the EU. But it doesn't need to be this way. 
2/ The European Free Trade Association, (which the UK helped to create) has an enviable network of FTAs with countries around the world. In those places where it doesn't have FTAs, it often has Joint Declarations on Cooperation or Mutual Recognition Agreements.
3/ EFTA has 29 FTAs covering 40 countries and territories outside the EU and is negotiating more. efta.int/free-trade
4/ If the UK rejoined EFTA we might not get automatic access to all these FTAs from the first moment, but we can be confident that the third countries would be inclined to 'roll them over'. In fact we feel very confident indeed.
5/ These countries include Israel🇮🇱, Canada🇨🇦, Hong Kong 🇭🇰, Turkey 🇹🇷 and many more: efta.int/free-trade/fre…
6/ And the very act of rejoining EFTA means we would essentially be signing a FTA with 4 countries at once - 🇨🇭🇱🇮🇮🇸🇳🇴
7/ And if the UK opted to stay in the EEA (European Economic Area) after Brexit we would essentially be signing an advanced FTA with all 27 eu member states at once!
8/ But what if we wanted to do our *own* new FTAs? Well that's not a problem as part of EFTA. E.G. Switzerland has its own separate FTA with Japan, Iceland has a FTA with China for example.
9/ In conclusion - EFTA is a highly successful trading bloc and we should ask to join it. If you have any questions, please ask. Please tag your MPs in this thread. /End
