BREXIT: the problem is this place. Let us explain. 1/
/ MPs are notoriously difficult to get in contact with, so those groups who want to communicate their ideas to MPs tend to have offices really close to Parliament. Like *really* close.
/ since these organisations are literally on the MP's doorstep they are free to come and explain their ideas to them at the drop of a hat at any time the MP is free.
/ and if you are a busy MP you might just be satisfied by reading their materials or listening to their arguments - after all, they sound convincing. desmog.co.uk/2018/07/23/map…
/ but on an issue as big as brexit you would think MPs would look further afield for advice. Wouldn't you?
/ but that doesn't seem to have been the case. We know a lot of people in 'soft Brexit' circles and they tell us very few MPs have been in contact.
/ in short, the whole manner in which MPs interact with the public needs to change. Influencing them shouldn't be the preserve of rich lobbying groups whose money allows them to loiter around Parliament 24/7. /End
