A no deal brexit means an almost infinite amount of new bureaucracy. Everywhere you look, there are new rules and regulations to follow, new documentation to complete, new costs to incur. We will *never* dig ourselves out from under the onslaught of home-grown red tape.
Take for example the 10 - yes, TEN - steps that businesses will need to follow to export goods to the EU after a no-deal Brexit. How many SMEs can afford to absorb the hassle - and the costs - involved? How many will go to a wall as a result?
The picture is no rosier for those seeking to import products from the EU to put on the UK market. Again, 10 steps required, vs slinging the stuff on a lorry now.
The hour is *very* late, but it's still possible to stop Brexit. The above are just two examples, but every one of the over 100 no deal preparedness notices introduces new procedures, extra steps, more work, more costs. So do we march to our collective doom? Or do we think again?
