Worth a read (about the Giles Fraser call for a return to the past).
Fraser's argument for Brexit is a very socially conservative one: of "change as loss", that "it's not the economy, stupid", and one that harks back to a golden age.
He's actually done us a favour by distilling & articulating a widespread impulse into its purest form.
His invoking of socially conservative Islam as representative of this alleged better way was probably the peak of his purism: the ultimate picture of what Fraserism looks like.
Which is logically of a more feudal society, where women are "homemakers", and the vast majority of us are God-fearing peasants, bound by custom and shared prejudice.
By no coincidence, Fraser is a man of God.
