This #SundayMorning we're examining Trump's proximity to Epstein, Kraft & members of the 1% involved in sex trafficking rings and prostitution.

Why do wealthy men from Trump's orbit repeatedly get sucked into these kinds of scandals? And what does that say about Trump?

(THREAD)
(2) Trump has made human trafficking a centerpiece of his motivation for building a wall on the southern border and his daughter, Ivanka, has penned op-eds about the administration's commitment to ending trafficking as a signature issue.

(3) In fact, Trump seems weirdly obsessed with imagery involving trafficked women, bound with tape. His fixation on this specific scenario in speeches has raised some eyebrows.

"wrapping tape around their mouths so they can’t shout or scream..."

(4) More compelling than the fascination with violent imagery of bound women is Trump's proximity to those who actually take advantage of trafficked women and children. Let's start with Jeffrey Epstein.

Like many affluent New Yorkers, Trump knew Epstein.

(5) There is evidence that Trump attended Epstein parties in the 90s and at least once was a passenger on Epstein's jet where some guests took advantage of Epstein's menu of trafficked women and children to perform sex acts.

(6) In fact, one woman says she was recruited by Epstein at Mar-a-Lago as a fifteen-year-old towel girl.

These details get particularly suspicious when we examine how a man who ran an international sex trafficking ring got a sweetheart plea deal.

(7) Enter Alex Acosta, Trump's labor secretary, whose role in the Epstein plea deal was ruled by a judge as a violation of the law because the details of the deal were not disclosed to victims.

This plea deal gave immunity to at least four accomplices.

(8) While we don't have any direct evidence linking Trump to Epstein's trafficking ring, there were accusations in 2016 that Trump raped a 13-year-old girl at one of Epstein's 1994 parties. The woman dropped the lawsuit just days before the 2016 election.

(9) Trump has made comments that suggest he was more than aware of Epstein's proclivity for "young" women.

"I’ve known Jeff for 15 years- terrific guy. It's even said he likes beautiful women as much as I do & many of them are on the younger side.”

(10) Trump's comments hint at his own preference for women on the "younger" side, including lewd remarks he's made about his own daughter and telling 14-year-old girls he'd be "dating" them in ten years.

(11) Which brings us to Robert Kraft and the Jupiter spa bust earlier this week. The owner of the Patriots is known as a friend of Trump's & his involvement as a customer at a spa where young women were forced to perform sex acts made headlines.

nytimes.com/2019/02/23/us/…
(12) There are several things that make this bust of a prostitution ring of trafficked women notable. First of all, it involved two other high-profile GOP donors and Trump associates. John Childs and former Citigroup official John Haven.

businessinsider.com/john-childs-bi…
(13) Childs has donated more than four million to GOP campaigns, including $250,000 to America First Action, a Trump Super Pac.

Like his support of other sexual predators, O'Reilly & Kavanaugh, Trump has said Bob has denied everything.

(14) It's likely some of the men involved in the Jupiter Spa were guests at Mar-a-Lago, which Trump calls "the Winter White House." After all, it's just 22 miles away from Jupiter Spa.

Robert Kraft is a frequent visitor at Mar-a-Lago, as was Epstein.

(15) Let me be clear. There is currently NO direct evidence that Trump is connected to or has participated in sex trafficking rings.

But it's clear if he wants to do something about human trafficking, Trump needs to stop making excuses for his friends.
