Brexit has shown up a deep and bedded problem with English journalism.
Over years. Many many years, journalists have become far too reliant on private "sources" which are often no more than gossip and rumour, while losing the ability to think.
The operative word is "reliant" Jopurnalists have become reliant on sources and whispers and rumours, even where there is absolutely no value in them, like with Brexit.
For the last three years I've been telling you Brexit wasn't going to happen, and I've been explaining why.
Theresa May thought she could use Article 50 to get a new treaty. Her racism gave her to assume that foreigners were weak and stupid and would give her what she wanted
And I told you, if someone doesn't challenge her intentions, all she's going to do is drive the country down a dead end where she can't get a new treaty but she daren't sign a withdrawal agreement without one.
I told you that three years ago.
This is the problem I'm talking about. I don't have "Downing Street sources" to go by. I've never even met a politician in real life.
But even from out here I could see what was going on. It wasn't even difficult to see what Theresa May's intentions were.
I could see all this from out here where I am, but the entire stock of English journalists never thought to ask any of this in three years.
And that's just people not doing their job.
The English media has been tamed and house trained. It follows after politicians waiting to be spoonfed hints and rumours, and you don't need all that if you're just willing to think.
Theresa May gave Article 50 notice thinking she could scam a new treaty off it.
Europe wasn't stupid enough to allow that, and all you were doing was driving yourself down a dead end.
Yes, Brexit has kept the media fed of gossip for the last three years. But that is not journalism. They've grown so fat and stupid reporting every fart and belch from Westminster. But there has been absolutely no valid information.
Theresa May misused Article 50 to try and scam a new treaty, and Europe said no.

And that is it. The last three years is just that.
And now you all think the news is about an extension to Article 50. Nobody bothering to ask what it's for. So you can nut your head against the same brick wall for another three months.
At the moment your political institutions are dead from the neck up.
Parliament is a zombie full of MPs waiting for someone to come and wipe their arse for them.
And the media is obsessed with Boris Johnson's wet farts
