Wait.... is the Lost Cause narrative just an extremely successful example of a crisis communications strategy’s re-branding campaign?

...and confederate sympathizer groups are just extremely successful PR firms? (1/10) 🧜🏻‍♀️
The Democratic and Republican Parties are just two branding campaigns that happened to go, and stay, viral. Think of every presidential campaign slogan as a new product line that has been released.

Country First.
Change We Can Believe In.
Stronger Together.
MAGA. (2/10) 🧜🏻‍♀️
A Top 5 List of Greatest Branding Campaigns of All-Time should definitely include the Democratic Party, Republican Party, and Fyre Festival.

There are branding campaigns EVERYWHERE in politics. Anytime an entity communicates with the public, there is a strategy. (3/10) 🧜🏻‍♀️
We could just as easily talk about Pepsi v Coke or.... Democrats v Republicans, Clinton v Trump, pro-choice v pro-life, GRTC Pulse v No GRTC Pulse, etc.

They are all branding campaigns. It’s just a question whose propaganda is successfully messaged to you. (4/10) 🧜🏻‍♀️
Where can you see branding strategy in politics?

- Brand definition: party values/platforms
- Brand objectives: earn market share (voters, donors, advocates, etc)
- Target audience: competitor’s dissatisfied marketshare (5/10) 🧜🏻‍♀️

- Brand packaging and identity: slogans, tag-lines, hashtags

We are frequently conscious of a corporate branding campaign’s success. We freely admit when we aren’t buying cereal for any reason other than what was said on TV or the packaging appeals to us.

Why can’t we all see, admit, and TALK ABOUT how this happens in politics? (7/10) 🧜🏻‍♀️
Unless you’re questioning EVERY SINGLE LEVEL of the government, you are falling prey to someone’s successful marketing campaign. The most critical level to question... is yourself. Why do you believe the things you do? Why did you buy the cereal? (8/10) 🧜🏻‍♀️
The most genius branding campaign of all time might be whoever started labeling people who are suspicious and ask questions as “conspiracy theorists.”

Doubt as the pursuit of truth is the principle behind Descartes’s Cartesian Doubt and Plato’s Allegory of the Cave. (9/10) 🧜🏻‍♀️
So why don’t we doubt the government as an entire system anymore? Whether it be candidates, media, or PACs... regardless of it is conscious or subconscious... they are all playing us.

Why do they play us? Because majority rules. A majority of what? Market share. Voters. (10/10)
