DISCOVERY S2E7 "LIGHT AND SHADOWS" THOUGHTS [a thread] - Spoilers ahead, so watch yourself. SPOILERS! @StarTrekRoom @startrekcbs

Overall Impression: #Disco is slowly escaping from the anomaly of itself. Lots to unpack 1/15
OBSERVATION 1 - AshVoq and Cap'n Pike learned to respect each other, like bros. That's sweet, man. Voluntarily admitting you're wrong TO ANOTHER MAN - that's rare in the 21st century. Nice to see on screen 2/15
OBS 2 - Amanda succeeded in her mission from a few episodes back, but also got into what we may call a "Vulcan argument" right in front of the kids. That was awkward 3/15
OBS 3 - "Alice In Wonderland" is a secret language between Burnham & Spock now. Thanks to this Lewis Carroll connection, Burnham is able to decipher some of Spock's "madness" 4/15
OBS 4 - Paraphrasing Emperor Georgiou: "I want you to hit me as hard as you can" 5/15
OBS 5 - @albinokid saves the day. Again. By doing some sort of Doctor Who thing. Must be tiring work. Stamets is a Mushroom-Time Lord 6/15
OBS 6 - Saru takes command in a real way this episode. Finally. Now we can see what a Captain Saru will look like, post-ganglia #thekelpiencaptain 7/15
OBS 7 - While investigating the temporal rift thingie, Discovery sends out a probe, which is modified 500 years in the future? and comes back as a space squid. This space squid probe is working against the Red Angel, we theorize. 8/15
OBS 7 CONT. - So, not only do we have to figure out who the Red Angel is, but also to figure out who reprogrammed that probe. Maybe it was the same entity that created V'Ger from Voyager 6 9/15
OBS 7 CONT. - So, the set up now is very much like the Temporal Cold War. Red Angel vs. Squid Probe. Who will win the future? 10/15
OBS 8 - Red Angel Identity? Future Spock? Not really. Future Burnham? Maybe. Future Pike? It is looking good. Perhaps, using Talosian tech, wheelchair-bound Pike is making some changes for some unknown reason. "We are always in a fight for the future," he said 11/15
OBS 8 CONT. - Hail Mary Red Angel Candidate A:
OBS 8 CONT. - Hail Mary Red Angel Candidate B:
OBS 9 - Talos IV is included. Not a drill folks. That goes all the way back to Pike & the very first pilot for Star Trek, all the way back to the very beginning. Are the Talosians connected to the Red Angel. Maybe no, but they will be useful in cracking into Spock's brain 14/15
OBS 10 - This was a fun episode. Maybe the best yet for season 2. #Discovery is increasing in its Discovery-ness. It is only logical. That could be a reason why it was renewed for a third season, as if we had any doubt 15/15
OBS 8 CONT. - Hail Mary Red Angel Candidate C:
OBS 11 - Something is clearly up with Ariam. She works for Squid Probe Inc. now. 17/15
OBS 12 - That death penalty thing as punishment for visiting Talos IV must be related to this Discovery story arc.
OBS 12 CONT. - We know there is a death penalty in place for visiting Talos IV by "The Menagerie 1 & 2", but do we know why?
