Space is sideline-to-sideline & 30-yards downfield. Attack it by alignment or running there. Balance yds between all 5 skill positions (personnel), attacking dimension of that space.

Anecdote from my convo with @Coach_Leach:
We were discussing how NE is one of the few NFL teams to quickly go pass-heavy vs a great run D after unsuccessfully testing the run on the first drive or two.
Coach immediately brought up 2001 vs K State. It was his 2nd yr as a HC....

@Coach_Leach As he told the story, two weeks prior, K State held #3 Oklahoma to only 9 rush yds on 26 carries & almost won.
So Coach knew they'd need to pass v K St, but tested the run on the 1st drive. No luck. So he went pass heavy & blew out K State.
I went back & looked up the stats...

@Coach_Leach That was nearly 20 years ago! And in that time, only the NFL's best team (the Patriots) replicate that strategy.
In the year 2019, the NFL literally had a HC lose a playoff game by unsuccessfully sticking with the run & refusing to adapt.
