This is not "sticking it to the man," this is sticking it to my friend whose dog just had to have a leg amputated because of cancer, whose house sometimes fills with LIVE HORNETS due to flaws in the wiring. This is not an act of brave rebellion.
You know what REALLY pisses me off here? @KBSpangler is incredibly good about giving free books to readers whose finances won't support buying them new. SHE LITERALLY HANDS OUT FREE EBOOKS TO MAKE PEOPLE HAPPY.
So this is stealing something that would be given for free...and the act of giving on the part of the author transforms it from "theft" to "charity." People who illegally download her books could already get them free...if this were about the money.

Happiness is reading a book to possibly blurb, hitting something that makes you go UM WHAT, contacting the editor, discovering the something was an error, and having the something fixed, all without being an asshole.
But that also made me stop and go, remember, no matter how hard you try, no matter how careful you are, sometimes your work will contain things you didn't put there on purpose and don't mean to endorse.
One of the editorial changes I talk about making to the early Toby books was in ROSEMARY AND RUE. Originally, a character who walks on and dies two pages later was a girl. In the book as printed, he's a boy. Why?

Sometimes you can just take a bizarre statement about its logical conclusion. And that can be your answer.
An example from real life:

Me: "So instead of going to the doctor to rule out the #cancer being back, your solution is to do nothing and let me suffer through these symptoms? And risk dying?"

Him: "No?"

Me: "Okay."
The fear that your loved one may due is real. And acceptable. And reasonable.

But the solution is never "let's ignore your equally real pain & suffering & see if it goes away."

Cancer is sustained abnormal growth, the loss of tightly regulated mechanisms to control cell division and growth.

Every species of multicellular organism gets #cancer.
Sharks.
Naked mole rats.
Lobsters.
even trees.

Let's talk about tree cancer.
When a tree is injured, infected, or stressed, the cells affected can undergo a loss of normal function and out of control growth. These outgrowths show poor cellular organization, producing odd wood-grain patterns and blobby outgrowths we call burls.
The similarities to mammalian cancer is obvious in a side-by-side comparison of tumor and burl.
