I hope my students are in the house! Someone just asked about #disability & the @MeTooMVMT. @TaranaBurke spoke about the need to have those with lived experiences LEAD on these issues while also acknowledging that we all need to do the work to learn about & support each other.
She emphasized that we cannot work in our oppression silos. The #MeToo movement MUST be #intersectional. We need each other, ALL OF US, to be in this for change to happen.
Oooh and the next question she handles queerness & sex ed too. I am social justice stanning like none other. What a model of leadership!!!

So fucking over the moon to have met & introduce @MeTooMVMT founder @TaranaBurke tonight for her @WUD_DLS lecture at @UWMadison. My voice broke as I read my intro bc of how powerful & important Ms. Burke’s work is to me & the world.
Tonight Ms. Burke told us about her origins working with black girl survivors. She reminded us that the work has ALWAYS about survivors, healing & ending sexual violence NOT merely about “bringing down powerful men”
Her talk was moving. She encouraged all @UWMadison students to claim this space. She said this is YOUR campus. You DESERVE to be safe here & free from sexual & racial violence. Until we are all safe here the university is not living up to its mission.

Good morning Twitter friends. I’m still in bed sick, but possibly on the mend at last after 4 days. Last night @tropigalia & @laura_luna asked me to do a #thread on the devaluing & misrecognition of #femme relationships so here we go.

So to be clear, femme is a queer gender expression not tied to sex or gender identity. Femme is also not exclusively about appearance, but this thread will emphasize appearance bc I’m going to talk about the way femme relationships are read, thus based on visual cues.

Lets get a little uncomfortable together and talk about trans infighting. I'm not subtweeting, anything I reference I've seen from multiple people. Imagine anything typed with a calm voice, I'm not sardonic or biting here. White trans folk may feel challenged, but we need it.

You really need to understand how bad this situation is. With his racist, xenophobic rhetoric, Trump has created the conditions under which 1,500 children are now missing from Federal government "care."
Donald Trump has been linked to human traffickers in the past. He has no compunction about commercializing women's bodies OR about grabbing women's without our consent.

What makes us think he'd feel any differently about commercializing women's bodies without their consent?
Donald Trump has been accused of raping a young teenage girl. He absolutely associates with known traffickers in teen girls. This tells you everything you need to know about how he'd feel about commercializing the bodies of children.

2) Beaucoup de réactions axées sur deux principales idées. C’est vrai et je l’ai dit, les #sjw c’est vieux, très vieux pour Internet (circa 2010). Ce mouvement est archi connu des personnes habituées aux memes, #Reddit, 9gag ou 4chan par exemple. Rien que le terme est polémique.
3) Je ne suis ni philosophe, ni politologue, ni juriste, ni sociologue, ni journaliste, ni anthropologue, ni statisticienne. J’exerce une activité un peu en lien avec tous ces domaines, et c’est dans l’étude de leurs relations que j’adore trouver du sens.
