Two months ago Portugal signed an agreement with Huawei for the Chinese company to build our 5G network. As I noted at the time, not a single news item. Today there was a sudden Huawei commotion.
Believe it or not, at the time all we knew was that 17 agreements would be signed. I speculated here that one or two might be important or Xi Jinping would not have travelled to Portugal
A couple days later I received an email from a kind source with the agreements and there was the Huawei one. But none of that was public.
Will the PM be forced to resign? Unlikely
Irrespective of what you think about the Huawei issue - I have been thinking deeply about it but sharing almost none of my thoughts - it seems to me that yes, PM Costa should resign
Final question. Why was there a Huawei commotion in Portugal today? Was it because PM Costa published the agreement I received in my inbox? Not at all. Ajit Pai was in Lisbon yesterday
