Thread on tonight’s PLP meeting.

I’m told by a Lab MP that at tonight’s meeting of the PLP Jenny Formby got “an absolute battering”.

PLP members asked a range of questions and issued a number of demands.

Not least the ones previously submitted in the PLP’s unanimous motion but also:
- How many people in the leaders office received case emails?
- If so who? What training had they had?
- For how long were LOTO staff receiving these case emails?
- When was the last email received ?

- On what email accounts did LOTO staff receive these case emails?
- Were cases discussed in other ways eg WhatsApp?
- Did Seamus Milne or Karie Murphy receive these emails?

“As usual she failed to answer them. As she has with all our demands.
She told us at a previous meeting she is accountable to the NEC not us so we cannot ‘demand’ her.
The format of the meetings is that we ask questions and she makes one long response to them all. “

“This flawed format allows her to escape answering difficult things. She was pushed back by Cat McKinnel and agreed to meet her and others to continue it. Ruth, Margaret, Cat McKinnell and Wes all challenged her.”

“But don’t forget we sat in week after week of these meetings where Luciana etc were in tears and nothing happened. They do not fear this meeting because they know we have no power over them.”

“The only hope lies in whether we will be able to form a decent sized breakaway, not whether they will change their ways.
It’s in their DNA and goes to the root of their views and culture. They are shameless.”
