In order to fix this country we're going to have to trim defense spending. We have to stop talking about it in terms of limiting defense though. The money we spend is for contractors. The military goes on the record all the time saying they don't need everything being bought. 1/
We're not paying to make people safer, which is what always happens when we talk budget. Military spending is a huge redistribution of wealth that makes contractors and corporations richer. It doesn't necessarily lead to safety. 2/
These people hide behind national security, but there are plenty of projects that are producing military weapons and projects that nobody wants but the people producing them. 3/
And because we're paying to send massive amounts of wealth to military contractors, we're forced into a continual existence of austerity where programs that would make people's lives better are always being dismissed because we have to keep the war machine going. 4/
This lie is literally killing people right here at home. It's stalling education, it's stalling healthcare, it's stalling infrastructure improvements. All of these are life-changers. People are affected every single day because we're expected to pump money into private firms. 5/
Stop helping this scheme by paying homage to the falsehood that this is about security. It's not. It's redistribution of wealth on the most massive of scales. We can be safe, we can support the military, and we can make this country better for its people. 6/6
