The IOC database of athlete measurements holds data on 144 female basketballers from Rio 2016. Sorted for height, the top 2 are just under 6'8''. The next 3 are just shy of 6'6''. So technically, 2/144 female Olympic basketballers are 6'6'' or above, but rounding to 5/144. 1/
I might be inclined to describe a feature shared by only 3.5% of the population as unusual? 2/
By contrast, 64% - 92/144 - of male Olympic basketballers are 6'6'' (including, as for the female frequency calculation, those at the "just shy of" measurement). 3/
A 6 foot male would be taller than 4652/5067 female athletes (all sports). He would be taller than 3156/6141 male athletes. So well into the top 10% of female heights, but just scraping the top 50% in the male field. 4/
